San Diego Chiropractor

As a San Diego Chiropractor, I counsel many individuals who come to my clinic who want to lose weight. I know how hard it can be, and I also know how important it is to lose those extra pounds. Before you let the seams out in those slacks or skirt, there’s something you may want to know about those few extra pounds you may have gained. Over time, those pounds can add up to a substantial number of health problems from heart and pulmonary diseases and diabetes to back problems and joint degeneration. Surplus poundage puts undue stress on organs, like the heart, as well as on joints in the low back, hips, and knees. A whopping 62% of American adults are overweight or obese, according to recent studies. That is a very significant percentage and a truly gigantic problem (no pun intended).

It is likely no surprise to you to learn that the human body has not evolved to transport surplus poundage in the form of body fat. Just 20 or 30 extra pounds can veritably overload and even overwhelm the joints and muscles of the body. Excess weight in the belly, for example, makes it necessary for the body to compensate (counterbalance the weight) by tilting the pelvis forward. This shift puts pressure on the joints of the low back. Painful inflammation results as this joint compression hinders nerve activity. Nearly all men and women who have a “spare tire”experience low back pain generated by a compressed sciatic nerve or misalignments of the spinal column that restrict nerves due to weight-bearing stresses. If left untreated, misaligned vertebra not only continue to irritate the degenerative changes that have already taken place, but can develop into new arthritic changes in the spine in the future.

Here are the ways in which chiropractic treatment can help. First of all, to be clear, a moderate body weight is necessary in order for the musculoskeletal system to perform in the way it is meant to. Chiropractic treatment can not only ease the pain generated by excess weight compensation, but it can aid in weight reduction. Here’s how. Chiropractic adjustments relieve nerve compression in the spine and help to get motion back into the joints of the musculoskeletal system, especially in the low back, hips, and knees. And, naturally exercise and physical activity will be a lot easier, and more beneficial for the body, when the the joints have good movement and the spine is aligned. The added benefit of exercise the, in addition to helping with weight reduction, it can actually delay degenerative changes as the body ages.

Healthcare professionals, like your chiropractor, can talk to you about your diet and exercise alternatives. In addition to assisting people suffering from back pain and joint inflammation, chiropractors can provide trained suggestions on the particular lifestyle changes that can help a person to stay healthier, more energetic, and more active through the years. It isn’t a foregone conclusion that arthritis and immobility are just a part of the aging process. The structure of the human body is intended to carry a person through an entire lifetime of pain-free movement.

So, if you’ve been thinking that a few extra pounds won’t hurt, think again! As your chiropractor in San Diego, and someone who cares deeply about your overall health, I’d like to help you to make healthier choices.
Sacramento Chiropractor

With any sort of sport, injuries are not unusual. The smart thing to do is to find out what injury is inclined to take place in a particular sport and then to do what it takes to avoid it. The truth is, though, that sports injuries can’t always be avoided. Consequently, it’s important to take excellent care of your body to make getting injured less likely, or less traumatic. The most important thing that you can do is to be certain that you have a suitable fitness level prior to beginning to play a sport, such as golf. By perpetuating a healthy lifestyle, keeping your joints mobile and your muscles limber, warming and stretching your body prior to activity, using proper form and good postures during activity, and allowing yourself an appropriate amount of cool down and relaxation time, you will probably keep your body safe from injury.

It isn’t simply amateur golfers who get injured. Close to one-third of pro golfers play injured concurrently. The good news is that all-round good health and fitness can decrease how many injuries you may acquire and might possibly deter them totally.

Effective body strength in the muscle zones most utilized when golfing is very important. But, it’s essential to make certain your spine is in proper alignment and that it has good mobility before you set out to build muscle strength. A proficient golf swing hinges on your spine’s capacity to effectually move in a rotational action. Back injuries are the most prevalent kind of injuries experienced by golfers. Your Sacramento chiropractor will establish that your spine is in appropriate alignment and that there is good movement of the vertebrae. Chiropractic management can make a big difference in helping you to prevent back injury.

Once you’re “straightened” it’s time to strengthen. Being prepared for your golf game is essential to safe, injury-free action on the green. Golf stretching and flexibility routines will warm up your muscles and make straining them less likely. Whole body range of motion (ROM) exercises will increase flexibility, relatively speedily, in all regions of the body. In addition, elastic band conditioning offers functional golf range of motion improvements and can advance needed energy in the shoulders, hips and deep muscles of the core. Due to the fact that elastic band training provides the dynamic resistance that regular weight lifting does not, sports professionals, such as your chiropractor, are making them a part of their golf conditioning programs.

In addition to back injuries, a large number of golfers suffer from “Golfer’s Elbow.” Though golfer’s elbow and tennis elbow are almost the same injuries, there is a small difference between them. Whereas the outside of the upper arm is impinged in tennis elbow, golfer’s elbow disturbs the inner arm. Golfer’s elbow, like tennis elbow, can be a reaction to a single intense action, such as (in golf) hitting the mat at the driving range or hitting a hard fairway surface. Although, it generally is produced by repetitive stress from smaller shocks. Moreover, it can come upon those who suddenly start playing too much golf. For instance, if those that generally play golf once or twice a month elect to play in a tournament, they are conceivably at risk for contracting the injury.

Golf makes unique requests of the body. The game is ordinarily longer than the majority of other sports and that can cause fatigue. Poor posture and impeded coordination are frequently the consequences of a fatigued body. Together, these two components can cause an assortment of injuries. In addition, due to repetitive swinging of the golf clubs, the shoulder muscles are susceptible to injury. Just as attention should be given to make certain that your muscles are stretched and warmed up prior to starting your golf game, be sure that you rest your body suitable between games.

Carpal Tunnel Syndrome is, often, a surprising injury associated with golf. But, as it a condition that occurs due to repetitive stress, many games of golf played over several months constantly may produce this injury. Carpal Tunnel Syndrome can be a an extremely damaging injury causing disability and occasionally necessitating surgery. However, chiropractic treatment and, sometimes the use of a brace will help the condition if a health professional, such as your chiropractor, discovers it at an early stage.

Many golfers seem to feel that injuries are simply an inevitable part of a golfer’s life. However, a healthy, mobile spine, judicious preparation, proper exercise and muscle conditioning, reaching and maintaining a a suitable fitness level, and sensible rest and recuperation after your game is over, can make injuries much less a part of your golfing experience.

Can Chiropractic Help Back Pain?

Low Back Pain

Low back pain is a common health problem that at some point affects more than 80% of human beings, making it second in commonality only to the common cold. Although most people are aware that the common cold is due to a viral infection, back pain is often a mystery to its sufferers. Your Fort Worth Chiropractor is an expert at solving that mystery.

Anatomy

To understand back pain, it is important to understand the anatomy of the spine. The spinal bones or vertebrae of the lower back consist of posterior joints called facets that join vertebrae to one another and serve to direct the movement of the spine. The inter-vertebral discs link the bodies of the vertebrae and are composed of a form of strong cartilage that covers a soft material in the center, called the nucleus. The discs act as shock absorbers and spacers between the vertebrae. Ligaments and muscles also link the vertebrae. The wedge-shaped bone at the bottom of the spine is the sacrum and is joined to the two pelvic bones at the sacroiliac joint. The spinal cord is situated between the facets of the vertebrae. The spinal nerves exit the spine between the vertebrae.

Causes of Back Pain

The majority of back pain victims have not experienced any trauma, accidents or major injuries prior to the onset of their problem. The origin of most back pain is the cumulative effects of unhealthy sitting posture, poor work habits, incorrect lifting, lack of proper exercise and other negative lifestyle-related factors. All of these factors create stresses and imbalances on the spine and eventually cause pain. This is why people can often injure their back merely by bending over to pick up a piece of paper. The instability of the spine makes it vulnerable to even the most simple movements, such as bending. When this occurs, the surrounding back muscles go into spasm to protect the stressed or injured tissues of the back. Chiropractors are back pain specialists. Your Fort Worth Chiropractor can help you to get out of pain quickly.

Disc Problems & Sciatica

Prolonged sitting, specifically in a unsuitable position causes increased pressure on the intervertebral discs and imbalances in the muscles around the spine. Eventually the lower spine loses its usual function and no longer is prepared for the normal day-to-day stresses in ones life. In the end, the intervertebral disc develops small fissures, or cracks, allowing the soft nucleus to distend the disc outward. If the disc pushes on sensitive tissues, it causes the pain that is often referred to as a slipped disc. If the disc presses on the spinal nerve, an individual can develop sciatica, which is defined as pain, tingling, numbness, and occasionally weakness in the lower extremities. Regrettably, if the disc protrusion or herniation is large and the condition isn’t managed properly, surgery may benecessary to remove the herniated disc material. With chiropractic adjustments and care, which often includes postural exercises, most disc complications, including sciatica, can be mended. If you are experiencing any of the problems defined above, it is essential for you to seek chiropractic attention.

Spondylosis

Repetitive damage to the discs, facet joints, and surrounding ligaments may produce increased erosion and weight-bearing stress on the spine. Bone spurs are produced when the cartilage around the joints is adversely affected by stress that engenders calcium to deposit in the tissues around the vertebrae. These spurs can restrict adjacent nerves, blood vessels and soft tissue resulting in symptoms ranging from minor pain and numbness to gross sensory loss and muscular atrophy. This compression causes a form of arthritis, called Spondylosis, that can also occur as part of the aging process of the spine. Nevertheless, influences such as previous trauma, unhealthy lifestyle, and repetitive stress injury influence the time of onset in life. Regular chiropractic treatment and overall chiropractic management is extremely beneficial in slowing the aging process of the spine, as well as helping Spondylosis sufferers in managing their condition. Your Fort Worth Chiropractor has assisted many Spondylosis sufferers.

Sacroiliac Problems

The sacroiliac joints are a general area of dysfunction or injury in the low back. These weight-bearing joints connect the upper part of the body to the lower pelvic portion and are normally very strong and stable. Disturbances from falls, sports injuries, or the lifting of heavy objects can cause the joints to become unstable and move to an abnormal position. This condition is called a sacroiliac subluxation. Pregnancy can also cause this condition. Sacroiliac subluxation produces imbalances in the lower extremities giving a person a functional long and short leg. Those with this condition will feel pain especially with prolonged standing and walking, or during or after physical activity. Many complain of lack of energy and feeling tired easily. Other symptoms such as neck and shoulder pain, as well as headaches, can develop further up the spine. Chiropractic adjustments establish the proper alignment of the joints and are extremely affective in correcting sacroiliac problems. Ask your Fort Worth chiropractor how you can get effective pain relief.

Spinal Subluxation

Subluxated or misaligned facets joints are a prevalent disorder of the lower back, as well as the entire spine. Subluxations can exist on their own or in conjunction with disc problems and Spondylosis. Subluxations are not only painful, but they can restrict the nerves as they exit the foramen (or spaces) between the vertebrae, creating paraesthesia. Paraesthesia is a change of sensation described as a tingling, burning or “funny feeling.” Paraesthesia in the upper extremities more often than notoriginates from nerve problems in the neck, while paraesthesia in the lower extremities is very often associated with nerve problemsin the lumbar region (lower back). Visceral problems such as asthma and gastric conditions can also belinked to, or complicated by, spinal subluxations and nerve compression. Subluxations are best corrected by chiropractic adjustments.

Trauma

Trauma such as a fall, car accident, or sports injury can cause harm to the spine and lower back. Many times these traumas create over-stretching or tearing of the tissues of the spine. When this happens a person can encounter considerable pain and immobility. In order to escape long term disability or the development of any of the conditions listed above, chiropractic adjustments and treatment at the onset of symptoms is crucial. If you experience a trauma, call your chiropractor as soon as possible.

Scoliosis

Scoliosis is often associated with low back pain. Chiropractic care offers exceptional pain relief.

When it comes to the spine, chiropractors have more education and training than medical doctors. I can provides state of the art diagnosis and skilled treatment for any of the above-mentioned problems of the spine and lower back.

There are plenty of men and women today in a daily struggle to lose weight, especially excess weight around the middle. But, the need to lose weight is, quite frequently, more than merely a cosmetic issue. The fact of the matter is, if people are lugging around too much weight in their midsection, their back is going to be in pain as an outcome.

Most men and women who are overweight experience moderate to severe back pain. The reason for this is because the spine was not made to haul anything that weighs more than the body is at its naturally healthy weight. As a human being puts on extra poundage, the spine starts to unduly stress and to compress, causing a lot of pain and discomfort. In addition, it can have an impact on the pelvis, tilting it forward and possibly compelling it to pinch the sciatic nerve. This is a primary reason why those who are overweight tend to have problems with their lower back. The suffering is due to either sciatica or the distorting of the spinal column.

If this situation sounds painfully familiar, and it’s your desire to get out pain, certainly the thing to do is to take off the extra weight that you are carrying around, and your spine will immediately respond and reestablish its regular position. Unfortunately, weight loss isn’t easy and it can take time, even with the best of intentions. The good news is you don’t have to live with back pain as you lose the weight. A Costa Mesa chiropractor can assist you in getting the pain relief you’ll need as you shed the extra pounds.

Even so, you will still need to lose the extra weight, and not having back pain will actually help you do it. Losing the extra weight naturally and healthfully is necessary, and there are two (simple but not easy) things that can’t fail: Get some kind of exercise every day, even if it’s just a small amount, and make sure that you take in fewer calories than you burn! Sure, you’ve heard about these two things before. But, now that you’re aware your back is depending on you, it definitely time to get truly motivated.

Start exercising slowly, especially if you’re having problems with back pain. And, most importantly, be sure to seek out Costa Mesa chiropractic care so that you don’t make the mistake that many people do, which is to exercise into the pain. That will only make matters worse. Exercise, though occasionally uncomfortable, should never be painful or cause pain. That’s why it’s essential to see a chiropractor if you’re having difficulties with back pain.

Do simple stretching exercises and also concentrate on your core abdominal body muscles. Strong stomach muscles aid in relieving back pain. Your chiropractor will be able to offer exercises that are best for you, individually. Within just a week or two of dedication to shedding the pounds that are creating your back pain and possibly other health difficulties as well, you should begin to notice a significant difference in the way that you feel.

If you are experiencing back pain looking to a conventional healing method may not necessarily be the solution for you. As a matter of fact, many times when medical science is ineffectual in helping a person overcome pain, some natural techniques have been found to be highly effective. Medical approaches, by their nature, tend to treat the symptoms of pain, not the source. Whereas, natural methods seek out the underlying root cause of the symptoms. If you’re looking for natural methods that have been confirmed to be potent in relieving back pain and a number of other afflictions, you need look no further than chiropractic and acupuncture.

Acupuncture

Acupuncture has been performed for thousands of years in traditional Chinese medicine. It is gaining in popularity in other parts of the world and for a very good reason: A vast number of people have felt relief from their back pain and a number of other afflictions by going to see an acupuncturist on a routine basis. Pursuant to traditional Chinese acupuncture therapy, small needles are put into the body at distinct points that are known to affect a number of different areas of the body. Traditionally, only the needles are used, however on occasion and in particular today, minute electrical currents are sent through the needles into the body. Despite the fact that it may seem as if it would hurt, it rarely ever does and, moreover, many people feel tranquil and pleasurable sensations whenever they are undergoing acupuncture treatments.

Chiropractic

For over one hundred years, chiropractors, such as a Honolulu chiropractor, (also called doctors of chiropractic) have been treating individuals experiencing back pain and other health problems. A chiropractor offers therapy to those who are experiencing musculoskeletal and nervous system challenges. Chiropractic medicine treats the misalignments of the vertebral column that inhibit the operation of the nervous system. These misaligned vertebra can reduce resistance and immunity, thus causing new health problems. An effectual chiropractor has excellent observational and diagnostic skills that aid in discovering physical anomalies and joint problems. Many chiropractors perform neurological tests and orthopedic checks. Some will analyze the posture of someone in an effort to identify postural irregularities, and in addition may study someones gait to determine faulty movement patterns. Chiropractic management non-surgical, drug-free treatment and in addition will offer advice and provide education concerning the benefits of individual lifestyle changes, such as in exercise and nutrition.

So, if you are experiencing back pain, headaches, neck pain, hip pain, carpal tunnel syndrome, balance challenges, or arthritis, and you’ve tried a number of other things and and you’re still suffering, it could be time for you to try chiropractic and acupuncture. The only way that you’re going to be able to tell is to visit a good chiropractor or acupuncturist, and to let them to tell you precisely what they can do for you. More than likely you will experience some relief from your pain even after only one visit. With subsequent visits, you will continue to make improvements, and it is likely that you will find that these natural treatments work best for your back pain.

Scoliosis: An Introduction

A normal spine is straight, without much change from one side to the other, when the body is viewed from behind.Scoliosis is a condition that is generally associated with a lateral, or side-to-side, curvature of the spine. This condition often gives the appearance of the patient leaning to one side although it should not be confused with poor posture. Expressed by both lateral curvature and rotation of the vertebra, this troublesome deformity frequently causes a characteristic “rib hump” in the mid or thoracic spine. This is created by the vertebrae in the zone of the major curve rotating toward the concavity and pushing their attached ribs posterior hence causing the characteristic rib hump seen in thoracic scoliosis. If the thoracic curve and rib rotation are severe, more than 70 degrees, pulmonary and cardiac function can be impeded. Oftentimes later in life in untreated severe idiopathic infantile and juvenile scoliosis patients, this amount of curve and resulting cardiac and pulmonary changes can be life threatening.

Anatomy

If a person were to view the trunk from a side view, the spine would reveal four normal curves: the cervical, thoracic, lumbar, and sacral. The thoracic, in the chest vicinity, has a natural round curve, “reversed C,” called a kyphosis, while in the lower spine there is a healthy “C” curve, known as swayback or lordosis. Hyperlordosis is the term used to describe increased swayback, while increased kyphosis in the thoracic spine is called hyperkyphosis. Scoliosis changes generally accompany alterations from normal on a side view. Postural exercises can correct some round back deformities that are simply due to poor posture. A small number of individuals with kyphosis have more rigid deformities than the postural type, which are seen in conjunction with vertebral deformity. This kind of deformity, called Scheuermann’s kyphosis, is much more difficult to treat than postural kyphosis, and it’s cause is unknown.

Even a layman can help to identify a child or grownup with scoliosis simply by observing the person in a standing position, preferably bare-chested and in boxers, and observing the following:

One shoulder may be more elevated than the other.

One scapula (shoulder blade) may be more elevated or more conspicuous than the other.

There may be more space between the arm and the body on one side when the arms hang loosely at the side.

One hip may look to be higher or more pronounced than the other.

The head is not aligned with the pelvis.

One side of the back appears more elevated than the other when the individual is viewed from the rear and asked to lean forward until the the spine is horizontal.

Once scoliosis is identified, the child or adult should be sent to a healthcare professional, such as a chiropractor, for further evaluation. your chiropractor would be happy to help.

The most prevailing kind of scoliosis is, by far, Idiopathic, and although there are various causes and many varieties, Idiopathic Scoliosis accounts for about 85% of all cases. “Idiopathic” means “no known cause” and is witnessed with equal prevalence in boys and girls in the mild or low curve magnitudes. This disorder can be sub-classified into infantile, juvenile and adolescent types, contingent upon the age of onset. Idiopathic Scoliosis may be due to genetic or hereditary influences as it often runs in families. For reasons yet to be found, girls are five to eight times more likely than boys to have their curves develop in size and require treatment. The most frequent time for the development of Idiopathic Scoliosis is during adolescence when children are ending the last major growth spurt. It is very important to have this age group viewed by a professional on a regular basis because young people are disinclined to let their body to be viewed by parents or other adults.

It is vital that if a scoliotic curve is observed in a growing adolescent, the curves be monitored for any development by a periodic examination and from time to time standing x-rays. In ninety percent of conditions, the scoliosis is mild and does not require active treatment, though| increases in spinal deformity necessitate evaluation to ascertain if a brace or other management is required. In a small number of individuals, surgical treatment may be needed.~Surgery may be needed for a small number of individuals.

Brace treatment (orthosis) is recommended for newly-identified conditions of moderate scoliosis or abnormal kyphosis, as well as when an increase in scoliosis or kyphosis is observed in both juvenile and adolescent children. There are quite a few kinds of braces, all made to prevent curves from increasing through the process of acting as a buttress for the spine during active skeletal growth. Bracing is effectual in preventing curve progression in a very large portion of skeletally-immature adolescents. But, braces will not usually make the spine perfectly straight, and cannot always keep a curve from getting bigger.

There is no simple solution for scoliosis. Most cases, even though frequently monitored, are not actively treated. The common medical treatment for moderate cases is a brace, whereas severe cases in a few instances are treated surgically. You may want to see your local chiropractor first.

In addition to bracing, many other modalities have been used successfully including specialized exercise, electric stimulation of spinal muscles, nutritional programs, and chiropractic treatments. It appears that the most effective results have been sustained with a multi-faceted approach to the care of this affliction.

There are chiropractors, that have expertise assisting with scoliosis conditions.

Low back pain is second in frequency only to the common cold. It affects more than 80% of human being. However, unlike the common cold, back pain is often a mystery to most of its sufferers. Your Fort Worth Chiropractor is an expert at solving the puzzle.

Anatomy

Knowledge of the anatomy of the spine is very useful in understanding back pain. The spinal bones or vertebrae of the lower back are comprised of posterior joints called facets that connect vertebrae to one another and serve to dictate the action of the spine. Inter-vertebral discs, made of tough cartilage, connect the bodies of the vertebrae. This strong cartilage surrounds the nucleus, a soft material in the center of the inter-vertebral discs. The discs act as shock absorbers and spacers between the vertebrae. Ligaments and muscles also link the vertebrae. The sacrum is a wedge-shaped bone at the bottom of the spine. It is joined to the two pelvic bones at the sacroiliac joint. The spinal cord is located between the facets of the vertebrae. The spinal nerves exit the spine between the vertebrae.

Causes of Back Pain

In most cases, back pain occurs without a trauma, an accident, or a major injury prior to the onset. The cumulative effects of improper sitting posture, bad work habits, incorrect lifting, lack of proper exercise, and other unhealthy lifestyle-related factors produce most back pain. These cumulative factors cause stresses and imbalances on the spine and, therefore, some may injure their back merely by bending over to pick up a piece of paper. The instability of the spine makes it vulnerable to even the most simple movements, such as bending. When this happens, the surrounding back muscles go into spasm to protect the stressed or injured tissues of the back. Chiropractors are back pain specialists. Your Fort Worth Chiropractor can help you to get out of pain quickly.

Disc Problems & Sciatica

Increased pressure on the intervertebral discs and imbalances in the muscles around the spine can come about during and after prolonged sitting, particularly in a slouched position. After a while the lower spine loses its ability to function normally during everyday stresses. Ultimately, the intervertebral disc develops small fissures, or cracks, letting the soft nucleus to protrude the disc outward. If the disc pushes on sensitive tissues, it causes the pain that is often referred to as a slipped disc. If the disc presses on the spinal nerve, a person can develop sciatica, which is defined as pain, tingling, numbness, and on occasion weakness in the lower extremities. Regrettably, if the disc protrusion or herniation is large and the condition isn’t managed properly, surgery may berequired to dispose of the herniated disc material. However, with the correct chiropractic adjustments and management, as well as postural exercises, most of these cases can healthfully mend. If you are experiencing any of the conditions defined above, it is crucial for you to seek chiropractic attention.

Spondylosis

Repetitive damage to the discs, facet joints, and surrounding ligaments may cause increased wearing away and weight-bearing stress on the spine. Bone spurs are formed when the cartilage around the joints is unfavorably affected by stress that causes calcium to deposit in the tissues around the vertebrae. Regular chiropractic care and overall chiropractic management is extremely beneficial in slowing the aging process of the spine, as well as aiding Spondylosis sufferers in managing their condition. Your Fort Worth Chiropractor has assisted many Spondylosis sufferers.

Sacroiliac Problems

The sacroiliac joints are a common area of dysfunction or injury in the low back. These weight-bearing joints connect the upper part of the body to the lower pelvic portion and are usually very strong and stable. Disturbances from falls, sports injuries, or the lifting of heavy objects can cause the joints to become unstable and relocate to an abnormal position. This condition is called a sacroiliac subluxation. Women may experience this condition during or after their pregnancy. The imbalances in the lower extremities caused by sacroiliac subluxation can produce a functional long and short leg. Those with this condition will feel pain particularly with prolonged standing and walking, or during or after physical activity. Many complain of lack of energy and exhaustion. Many times this imbalance can affect structures further up the spine and sufferers can develop neck and shoulder pain, as well as headaches. Chiropractic adjustments establish the proper alignment of the joints and are extremely affective in eliminating sacroiliac problems. Ask your Fort Worth chiropractor how you can get effective pain relief.

Spinal Subluxation

A prevalent disorder of the lower back, as well as the entire spine, is subluxated or misaligned facet joints. Subluxations can prevail on their own or in conjunction with disc problems and Spondylosis. They not only cause pain, but they can also endanger the spinal nerves as they exit the foramen or spaces between the vertebrae, and produce nerve compression, known as paraethesia. Paraesthesia is a variation of sensation described as a tingling, burning or “funny feeling.” Paraesthesia in the upper extremities more often than notoriginates from nerve problems in the neck, while paraesthesia in the lower extremities is commonly associated with nerve dysfunctionin the lumbar region (lower back). Visceral problems such as asthma and gastric conditions can also becorrelated with, or complicated by, spinal subluxations and nerve compression. Subluxations are best eliminated by chiropractic adjustments.

Trauma

Injury such as a fall, car accident, or sports injury can cause harm to the spine and lower back. Frequently these traumas create over-stretching or tearing of the tissues of the spine. When this happens a person can experience considerable pain and immobility. Corrective chiropractic care at the onset of symptoms is vital in order to avoid long term disability and the development of any of the above conditions. If you experience a trauma, call your chiropractor as soon as possible.
